State Bank of India Mutual Fund popularly known as SBI Mutual Fund, is an Indian private asset management company formed by the State Bank of India (SBI) and incorporated in 1987 with its head office located in Mumbai, India. SBI & AMUNDI Asset Management shall jointly develop the company as an asset management company of international repute by adopting global best practices and maintaining international standards.

SBI Mutual Fund (SBI MF) achieved a historic milestone on July 12, 2024, by becoming the first fund house in India to surpass Rs 10 trillion in assets under management (AUM). The Company also offers alternate asset investment products through Alternative Investment Funds (AIF). The Company is acting as Investment Manager of SBI Alternative Equity Fund & SBI Alternative Debt Fund.
Recently, SBI Mutual Fund bought a 2.84 percent stake in AMI Organics for an average price of Rs 1350 per share. Plutus Wealth Management sold a 2.44 percent stake in AMI Organics for an average price of Rs 1350 per share.

The Industry’s AUM had crossed the milestone of ₹10 Trillion (₹10 Lakh Crore) for the first time in May 2014 and in a short span of about three years, the AUM size had increased more than two folds and crossed ₹ 20 trillion (₹20 Lakh Crore) for the first time in August 2017.

Business Model
Management Fees: The Company receives management fees from the mutual fund which is charged as a percent of the Assets Under Management (AUM) and is recognised on accrual basis.
Portfolio Management and Advisory Services: Portfolio Management Fees and Advisory Fees are recognised on an accrual basis as per the terms of the contract with the customers.
Dividend income: Dividend income from investments is recognised when the right to receive payment has been established.
Interest income: Interest income from a financial asset is recognised when it is probable that the economic benefits will flow to the Company and the amount of income can be measured reliably.

SBI Mutual Fund showed a growth of 27.4% in terms of average AUM on a year-on-year basis in FY 2024. Its average assets under management grew by `197,205 crores in absolute terms during the year which is the highest in the industry.
